A day after Alia Bhatt’s sister Shaheen Bhatt lashed out on the perpetrators on social media for sending hate messages and rape threats to her and her household, Bollywood actress Soni Razdan has backed her elder daughter by calling out the photograph and video-sharing app – Instagram for failing to curb sexual harassment and social media abuse. Soni, who’s the mom of Bollywood actress Alia and author Shaheen took to Instagram to slam the Facebook-owned platform as she slammed the social media app for not doing sufficient to forestall abuse.
Sharing the latest post of her elder daughter Shaheen, the Bollywood actress castigated trolls for making objectionable remarks on Instagram. “@instagram I do hope you’re reading this and taking some note of it. Because it really gets to the root of the issue. So easy na to let the abusers off the hook. To let yourself off the hook. To let the onus fall on the abused to take action to protect themselves. It’s basically and fundamentally ALL WRONG,” Soni captioned her post.
Soni’s response has come after her elder daughter took to the identical social media platform to sentence web warriors, who’ve resorted to harassment and rape threats on social media. Launching a prolonged tirade towards the troublemakers on social media, Alia’s sister Shaheen pledged that she won’t chorus herself in the case of taking authorized motion towards rape threats, harassment, and hate crime on social.
“I will NOT protect your identity. And third, I will use all legal recourse available to take action. If you think you can’t be located because you think your account is anonymous, please think again — IP addresses are easily trackable. You are not invisible. Harassment is a crime,” Shaheen had stated.
