Sahiwal (Sahiwal Tv – December 23, 2019 – Saad Ramzan) Governor Punjab Chaudhry Muhammad Sarwar has said that the present government is paying full attention to the availability of better basic health facilities to the common man and raising health awareness in the society. Without education and health, no society can develop, for which the government as well as the donors must play their role. Doctor is a profession that has success in both the world and the Hereafter.
He was addressing the first Convocation of Sahiwal Medical College in which 4 sessions of MBBS students from 2010-15 to 2013-18 were distributed degrees and medals.
Dr. Javid Akram, Vice Chancellor of the University of Health Sciences, Vice Chancellor of King Edward Medical University and Senior Vice President of College of Physicians and Surgeons, Prof. Dr. Khalid Masood Gondal (Medal of Honor), Principal Sahiwal Medical College Professor Zahid Kamal Siddiqui, Commissioner Sahiwal Division Mohammad Ahsan Waheed, Former Principals of the College Dr. Zamir Ahmed and Dr. Arshad Qureshi, Director Health Dr. Sadiq Saleem, Faculty Members Dr. Zahid Sattar, Dr. Nisar Ahmed, Dr. Khalil Ahmed, Dr. Akhil Mohlani and Dr. Akhtar Teachers, parents, students and people of the city attended the convocation in large numbers .
The Governor said that to improve the quality of education in the universities and to make them the best institutions of research, appointments were made on merit and according to the vision of Prime Minister Imran Khan, so far 20 universities of the Punjab Vice Chancellors have been appointed on merit. And our time is not far when our higher education institutions will produce international quality scholarships.
Governor Chaudhry Mohammed Sarwar congratulated the graduating students and said that serve to the people in life should be their motto and achieve success in the world and the Hereafter.
He said that the biggest cause of public health problems in Pakistan is the lack of awareness of the public health, which should be handled by the NGOs and non-citizens to solve the problem.
Governor Punjab also assured to meet other requirements of Sahiwal Medical College and directed the Principal to prepare a new PC One soon so that funds could be obtained from the provincial government.
He said that the Sarwar Foundation is performing high-quality services in the public health sector and quoted Rai Ali Nawaz Hospital in Chichawatni, where hundreds of patients were being treated on daily basis. Governor Chaudhry Muhammad Sarwar said that societies that are prone to extremism and terrorism are destroyed.
At the ceremony, Vice Chancellor of King Edward University, Prof. Dr. Khalid Masood Gondal took oath of the graduating students and assured to promote degree programs and training at Sahiwal Medical College with the cooperation of King Edward Medical University in his address.
He said that under the guidance of Governor Punjab Chaudhry Muhammad Sarwar, merit was being promoted in the higher educational institutions of Punjab which was improving the quality of education.
Vice-Chancellor UHS Professor Dr Javed Akram paid tribute to Sahiwal Medical College on curricular and co-curricular development in just 9 years and gave all possible support to the university.
He urged parents to allow their children to work in real life so that 80% of non-functioning girls can serve their community through education. Convocation awarded Best Student Medals to Umm Aqsa, Saharish Rafiq, Noor Sahar and Ihsan al-Shakur.
Earlier, College Principal Prof. Dr. Zahid Kamal Siddiqui highlighted the college’s curriculum and syllabus achievements in his address and said that the college had obtained positions in the UHS annual examinations which led to the admission merit. He said that College was better than 5 other colleges.
He added that with the establishment of the college, not only the citizens of Sahiwal were getting modern treatment facilities but also patients from other major cities were coming to the treatment which was a manifestation of the growing confidence of the people on them. He also praised the contributions of city charities, especially the Angel Family, for providing facilities to the college.
