Former CJI Ranjan Gogoi despatched verdict on Ram temple to Rajya Sabha

Former Chief Justice of India Ranjan Gogoi has been nominated by President Ram Nath Kovind for the Rajya Sabha. The President nominates 12 members to the Rajya Sabha. Ranjan Gogoi retired from the post of Chief Justice of the Supreme Court on 17 November 2019. Gogoi was sworn in because the 46th Chief Justice of India on 3 October 2018. Justice Gogoi's tenure within the Supreme Court is remembered for delivering a historic verdict within the Ram Janmabhoomi-Babri Masjid land dispute case.

Earlier, he had come to the dialogue when he addressed an unprecedented press convention with different fellow judges. <! –

                 In this press convention, he questioned the functioning of the then CJI Deepak Mishra. Justice Gogoi was additionally part of the bench that rejected the petitions demanding an inquiry into the Rafale deal.

Last 12 months too, he confronted sexual harassment costs. In her 28-page grievance, the girl alleged that on 10 October and 11 October 2018, the CJI had inappropriately touched her in her house workplace. Soon after the allegations had been made public, the bench headed by CJI Gogoi issued a signed assertion saying that the allegations had been a part of a conspiracy. An in-house committee gave Gogoi a clear chit.
