Lieutenant General YK Joshi appointed Commander of Northern Command, has expertise of anti-terror operations in Kashmir

new Delhi: Lieutenant General YK Joshi has been appointed because the commander of the strategically essential Northern Command. The Northern Command takes care of the Jammu and Kashmir border with Pakistan and the general safety of Ladakh with China.

Lt Gen Joshi has intensive expertise in counter-terrorism operations in Kashmir. He will exchange Lieutenant General Ranbir Singh. Singh is retiring on 31 January. General Joshi is at present holding the post of Chief of Staff in Northern Command. Official sources mentioned that he’ll take over on February 1.

Lieutenant General CP Mohanty appointed Commander of Southern Command
