Lt Gen Joshi has intensive expertise in counter-terrorism operations in Kashmir. He will exchange Lieutenant General Ranbir Singh. Singh is retiring on 31 January. General Joshi is at present holding the post of Chief of Staff in Northern Command. Official sources mentioned that he’ll take over on February 1.
