Knightley performed Juliet, a lady who acquired married to Peter (Chiwetel Ejiofor). The greatest man on the marriage ceremony was Mark (Andrew Lincoln), who was secretly in love along with her.
By the top of the film he professes his emotions for her. But followers in all probability didn’t know Knightley was solely 18 on the time. Lincoln was 30 years previous and Ejiofor was 26 years previous. This means Knightley was nearer in age to 13-year-old Thomas Brodie-Sangster, who performed Sam.
Script editor Emma Freud claimed different younger actors can be forged within the function of Juliet today. “I know Richard [Curtis] would cast either Saoirse Ronan or Lily James as the young bride,” she stated in response to Bustle.
But there are a number of forged members who can be saved of their roles. “Lots of them would be the same,” Freud stated. “Hugh [Grant] was a surprisingly young Prime Minister, but would be searingly realistic now. And there will never be a better Karen than Emma (Thompson), even when she’s 90.”

Juliet virtually had one other bizarre trend second. “Richard Curtis wanted [Keira’s] character to be kind of sexy, even as a bride,” costume designer Joanna Johnston instructed Grazia. “He wanted her to be dressed ready for the end of the scene where they’re partying, so he had this idea of a crop top, with a bare tummy.”
Johnston went a bit extra delicate with a form-fitting sheer costume. “I told Richard, ‘You don’t want a bare tummy going into church!’” she stated. “So I went for a sheer, layered style instead with petal details underneath; gauzy and multi-layered.”
The 2003 film has some fascinating trend selections. Some of them had been for sensible causes just like the hat hiding a zit. But the marriage costume was most probably to emphasise the bride being younger.
